What If, Scenario Writing Prompts

Here are a few writing prompts to help get your ideas flowing. You can use one or combine a few to create your story. 

• You see someone being hit in the street. What superpower would you like to have in this situation?
• A small child has gone missing on a run-down housing estate. Write about how the residents respond.
• A car crash in your town has an unexpected consequences in another town far away and so on. Write about the domino effect.

• You are at the reading of a Will of a family member. Everyone thought she was poor, but it turns out she’s worth millions. How did she get so rich?
• You are going to be invisible for the next three hours. How would you make the most of this time?
• Think of an old tree near you. Write about the family who picnicked under it 50 years ago, and the family who will picnic under it in 50 years time.
• You see someone being hit in the street. What superpower would you like to have in this situation?
• A man lies close to death. Describe the images from his childhood that fill his mind.
